I am totally excited to unveil this new feature we have implemented in the learning management system. It is called ‘Smart Assigning’. What is Smart Assigning? Well, Smart Assigning enables you to create microtargeting for specific courses, for specific user groups, or even for specific training paths. You already know the power of a training path in the system, the ability to create user groups and obviously to be able to assign trainings. But with smart assigning, you essentially get to set and leave, and as long as users have the right fields of data populated in their profiles, they will be matched with the rules that you’ve set. It saves you a tremendous amount of time. Let me explain how this works. By now you probably have heard about our custom fields feature. It allows you to go in an and additional fields of data to your user profiles. Right now I have employee ID location, company B engineer as my employee, additional custom fields. What I can do is smart assigning, for example, is I can say, look, if an employee has a yes for engineer, okay? Then what I want to do is I want to assign them to the specific course, so again, select I want to assign them to a course, and then, of course, your course list will be brought down, and what you simply do is go, “Refine the right course”. You can continue to assign them to multiple courses, so even multiple actions. I’m going to keep it simply for now. What I will do is add my rule, now notice the rule says if engineer is opposed to yes, then assign to this course. And it’s inactive, that’s very important. You need to activate that role. So if you click to activate it, then the rule is ready to be executed. You need to activate and execute, and that’s because it’s a powerful tool and we don’t want you just assigning it to folks that you’re not yet writing. So if you believe that your rule is set properly and you are ready to activate, I’m sorry, to execute, simply click on the execute button there, or link, excuse me, and the rule will be executed. While the rule is being executed you might see your browser essentially refresh or something like that, and then, of course, you would get an alert that says the rule has been executed. Now, what have we done? We have assigned courses to employees that have the engineer tag as yes, and this is the course they’ve been assigned to. Let’s make sure that this indeed is the case. So I’m going to go to my courses tab right here, and I’m going to go to this course right here, and they have 13 users assigned to this course. If I go to my completion report, and I just use my filtering options just to make sure that this is indeed the case, I’m going to filter for all users that are yes for engineer and what do you know? I have 13 users that have been assigned to my course. And of course, this is the beauty of the smart assigning feature. Now, let’s go back to smart assign. So what if you wanted to essentially add a bunch of users to a user group? Okay, we can do that. Let’s go in find employees who’s user ID, again, contains the field 001, 002. Alright, and if that’s the case I want to assign them to a user group, and all you do is just go in and find that particular user group. Okay? I might just go in and create this test group and again, click add rule, and you simply go activate that rule and execute that rule, and click okay. The rule is being executed. Once it’s executed you can simply go to your user group’s tab there, find that particular user group. I believe this is the one, and all the users that fit that profile have now been added to this group. It is that powerful. You can use smart assigning to assign users to courses, you can assign users to training paths. So let’s say that I have an employee here, I’m just going to bring up a random employee, go to user profile here, alright? They are in the Louisville location. So what I want to do is I want to assign all employees in the Louisville location that also match engineers that have … They are engineers alright? So location is Louisville. They also have engineers. And I want to assign them to a training path. Let’s go and do that. So we’re going to go to users, click on smart assigning, and what I’m going to do is I’m going to say, “Okay, if your location is equal to Louisville and you are an engineer then I’m going to assign you to a training path called Smart Assigning offer”. See that? Click add rule, now here’s my rule. If user’s location is Louisville, and user is equals to engineer as yes, go ahead and assign that particular user to Smart Assigning training path alpha. Again, I’m going to go ahead and activate my rule, and then I’ll execute my rule. Click okay. My rule is executed. Now if I go to my training paths here, and go to my training path alpha, go to my completion report, I should see the particular users that meet that particular profile. And all you have to do to confirm this is click on a user’s profile, go to their profile and you would see that they’re in Louisville and they are also an engineer. This is truly powerful. We want you to make maximum use of this. It will save you tremendous amounts of time.
