In this tutorial, we will be presenting a brand new LMS feature. This is the Observation Checklist or Observation Assessment feature. To go ahead and get started, we are going to click on ad new course. Now, this particular course here, or Observation, is going to be for assessing forklift safety. I’ll go ahead and add my name in there. You can certainly add description objectives. They are not required. Go over to the type and select observation checklist. That’s important. Then click submit. Now once you do that you can click right here where it says click here to continue, or you can go right to the observation checklist area. They both do the same thing. So if I click right over here, I go over to my observation checklist. Now, as a best practice, it’s normally a good idea to have some description that tells the observer or assessor why this observation is being done. For example, to determine … okay, I just made this up. To determine if our drivers are keeping up with safety protocols. Again, that’s our description, you can always come back and modify it. The first thing I want to do is then go ahead and get started adding in learning management system observation statements. I do have some statements here that we will be using. I’m going to go ahead and just copy this right here. The first statement is about displaying licenses. Now, the Grading types are there for you to select which best is useful for your scenario. In this case, this is a yes or no type of a question, so I’ll just leave it as binary, and I’ll click “add statement”, so that statement goes in there. It’s inactive, I’ll come back and explain why, and then, of course, we go to the next statement and this is going to be actually one that we use a star rating. Okay, so what we want to do here is to say okay, well are they always doing this? Are they doing this sometime? What kind of star assessment rating do we give them? Is there a one star, five star, four star, three star. Okay? Select the particular grading type and hit add statements, and again, the system adds it in there. It’s inactive for a good reason, we’ll come back to that in a sec.The third, for example, is seatbelt worn during forklift operation? Because this is a tutorial, I’m going to use as many different types of gradings so that I can explain them. In this case, I’ll just go right here. I’ll use a scale system because I want to be able to give words to my assessment values. Are they excellent at this? Are they good at this? Is this a fair kind of assessment? Is this insufficient? I’ll use a scale rating for this assessment. The third, for example, is seatbelt worn during forklift operation? Because this is a tutorial, I’m going to use as many different types of gradings so that I can explain them. In this case, I’ll just go right here. I’ll use a scale system because I want to be able to give words to my assessment values. Are they excellent at this? Are they good at this? Is this a fair kind of assessment? Is this insufficient? I’ll use a scale rating for this assessment. And again, we go to the next assessment and sets parking brake, now this is important for our company. What I want to do is use my own assessment values, so I’ll go in and use a point system. Basically, that means that from a zero to a 10, I can determine, what is the point value for this particular statement. Super important. Click “add statement”, and we have four statements in there. I’m going to go ahead and add some more statements. I’m going to go in and I think there’s … sounds horn when exiting trailer. Okay. I’m actually going to do this as a binary, so right over there. There’s my binary statement and then go back to my list here. You can see just how simple and easy it is to copy and paste this stuff, so again, I’ll kind of cycle through these again.Wears authorized safety gear. Alright, and then uses approved lift cage when transporting. I’m just cycling through these again, I hope you don’t mind. Again, that’s a scale rating and I believe my last one says “Removes freights from side of fork”. So again, I’m going to use my custom point value system here. Alright, we have our statements in there, they are not active, so I’ll just go ahead and just click on the little icons right here, super easy to do, it just takes a second to actually update. This is not a big deal at all. It takes literally seconds to do it. We’ve got our statements, we’ve got our description. What’s the next thing to do? Well, we need to assign it. In our next video, we will look at how to assign the Observation Checklist. Thanks.
