Course Overview

Supervisors play a critical role in ensuring workplace and roadway safety. Under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, managers and supervisors of safety-sensitive employees must complete reasonable suspicion training to identify, intervene, and act when drug or alcohol use may impair performance.

This course equips supervisors with the knowledge and skills to recognize behavioral, physical, and performance indicators of substance misuse. It also explains the proper steps for initiating a reasonable suspicion test, in compliance with DOT and FMCSA requirements.

It’s universally accepted that alcohol, drugs, and driving don’t mix. Yet, driving under the influence is a major cause of accidents that result in injuries and deaths.

This course shows how “Reasonable Suspicion” testing helps ensure commercial vehicle drivers, mechanics, and warehouse workers stay drug and alcohol free. Designed to show how managers and supervisors of commercial drivers and those in safety-sensitive jobs can implement the Reasonable Suspicion Act for optimal effectiveness, this two-part course presents all aspects, implications, and applications of “Reasonable Suspicion.” Upon showing what is meant by “reasonable” suspicion, this course teaches employers how to recognize the signs of substance use disorder, and the physical and behavioral signs of drug use. Note that there’s a Part 2 to this training.
